This season, Surf Life Saving Australia has introduced a new & comprehensive policy concerning child and young person protection within surf lifesaving. All of us at Longy want to ensure that all our younger members including our nippers and cadets can enjoy the club and surf lifesaving at Long Reef in a safe environment.
Accordingly, this season the club has:
1) Appointed two club Member Protection Information Officers – Margaret Pearson and Stuart Thomson
Both Margaret and Stuart can provide information and advice to all Club members about member rights and responsibilities, as well as options available to members concerning member protection, child protection, member club code of conduct and complaints handling. You can email both of them at – MPIO@longreef.com.
2) Adopted member screening
A condition of club membership this season is for all club members aged from 18 years and over to complete an electronic member protection declaration & screening form.
The form is very easy to complete & is entirely electronic – it’s not onerous, so please complete the form right now if you are a member aged 18 years or over. To access the form, click here.
For further information you can go to the MPIO section on the club website or email MPIO@longreef.com.
Please get behind this important area by completing the member screening (click here) and by getting your working with children check (WWCC) done (click here) if you are involved in a club role that requires you to have a working with children check done.
If in doubt, please go to the club website ‘member protection’ tab (click here) or email MPIO@longreef.com for further information.
