Dear Longy Members,

The COVID-19 virus is impacting every element of society and Surf Life Saving is no exception.

The Surf Life Saving NSW Board convened on Thursday 26th March 2020 to discuss the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and the stricter restrictions announced by Government.

The decision was made to cancel patrols by volunteer surf lifesavers on NSW beaches for the remainder of the season, bringing the 2019-20 season to an early close.

Sadly, this means that Long Reef SLSC club facilities are now closed until further notice to all members other than the Emergency Response Team and Council Lifeguard. This includes access to the gym, main hall and bathrooms, board/boat shed, etc.

In addition, all events, gatherings, and activities are suspended. This impacts:

• competitions,
• surfboat rowing,
• IRB and Bronze Training,
• the use of the gym,
• and Sea Monkeys activities.

As a Surf Life Saving Club, the protection, safety and welfare of you  our members and the rest of our community, while supporting both the Government’s and SLS’s guidelines, is of utmost importance.

We are all in this together. Like you, we look forward to  life returning to normal as soon as possible. In the meantime at this unprecedented time, please take care of yourself, loved ones and each other.

~ Your Long Reef MC
