“Hosting a surf sports carnival helps put Long Reef on the map in the surf sports competition arena” says President Pete.
We’re delighted to be hosting Round 4 of the SNB Boat Carnival at Long Reef on Saturday 19th December. President Pete says “Hosting a surf sports carnival helps put Long Reef on the map in the surf sports competition arena. It’s also an opportunity to show off The Shed, which will be well into operation by then.”
We have the following boat crews competing on home turf at Longy: The Apples, in Open Mens division, and The Sharlies, competing in U19 girl, and with a little luck and conditions permitting we might also see a few other Longy crews in action too… watch this space.
While we have no idea what conditions will be on the day, at least on the advantage we have, our boats won’t have far to travel to the start line! The competition area will be restricted to competitors and officials. Despite this, there should still be lots of vantage points to enjoy the action!.
Can you volunteer on carnival day?
To help ensure we are hosts with the most, we’d love some extra volunteers to assist with first aid, IRB, & Covid marshalling, beach set up and pack down and other support crew.
Hosting an event requires quite a bit of background work, in particular gaining approvals for the Northern Beaches Branch of Surf Life Saving NSW and with Northern Beaches Council. A big thank you goes out to Rob Pearson for shouldering the host preparation.
Ready to volunteer? Email Phoebe at admin@longreef.com to indicate your preference to volunteer as first aid, Covid Marshalling, IRB support crew, set up and pack down, and general support crew.
