Our IRB’s are a CRITICAL item of rescue equipment and we must ensure that they are in 100% Rescue Ready Condition at all times!!
So lets all make sure we take perfect care of the equipment and report any issues that you experience in the Patrol Log (Below) and to our Club Captain Nick Hadzi on 0437326 232 .
Now I’m sure you all no the procedures but just in case!
- Roll Over
- Contact Surfcom and inform them IRB temporarily out of operation
- Replace engine immediately with the backup engine you check and ran at the start of your patrol
- Return Rescue Ready IRB to patrol
- Ensure patrol has IRB Driver and Crew
- Conduct Roll Over procedure on motor that was involved in roll over
- Once motor is running well place it on an IRB (ideally a back up IRB if available) and run it for 2 hours
- Fill in IRB log & contact Hadzi by phone
- Write some notes on the whiteboard in the IRB shed
- (if a motor isn’t healthy place one of the DO NOT USE signs on it!!)
Now a few other key IRB points:
- IRB’s are extremely visible – improve your skills but don’t do silly things in them or annoy other beach users
- Only qualified drivers and crew in IRBs UNLESS it is a training session under the supervision of a LRSLSC IRB trainer.
- Our Trainers are – Adam Kent, Andrew Robson, Rob Pearson, Hamish Christie (Probationary), Nick Hadzipasic (Probationary)
- The only exception is patients who must were a helmet when in IRB’s
Many thanks for your co-operation and we look forward to you all keeping your skills up over the remainder of the season.
