In the long reef boaties’ latest endeavor, two crews headed up north to the cosy little town of Buladelah.
After launching from the boat ramp in the centre of town, the two crews shot ahead of the pack and maintained a commanding lead for some 24kms down the picturesque bends.
It was my first time down the Myall River, and yet after competing in many river rows previously, I still loved every minute of it. I was completely lost in the beauty and simplicity of floating down a river with nothing but a few cattle grazing by the banks and not another soul in sight.
A few houseboats rafted together mixed with a great lamb cook up, some stories shared and plenty of laughs made for a perfect night to unwind with the other crews up for the weekend.
Sunday saw a smaller but gruelling 10km shoot out as the wind kicked up and made sure we worked hard (and worked off a few of last nights drinks).
All in all it was a very successful weekend and I’m sure all the rowers are looking forward to the next adventure.
