Hi Longy family,
COVID has put a spin on everything in our lives, and it looks like SLS education will be another item affected by it. The good news is that the Longy Education team is full steam ahead with getting themselves up to speed on how we will run education within the club this season. On Wednesday evening Long Reef Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate trainers attended an induction on the new syllabus for this season. Some exciting changes are taking place, and the learning process is updated and modernised. We now have an online course manual (continuously kept up do date) and a learning app, and candidates can earn badges and medals for participation. The course consists of 10 modules, 6 for SRC candidates and all 10 for BM candidates. The infographic below gives you a brief outline.
We are still not 100% clear on what training will look like this year but rest assured we are doing all we can to get a clear understanding of best practices so we can ensure the safety of both our candidates and trainers.
Please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like me to add you to the waitlist for our training this season. We hope to run a Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques, IRB Crew, IRB Driver and First Aid course this season. As I am sure you will understand, numbers are limited by both our temporary clubhouse facility and COVID proximity rules, so please be patient with us.
Please share the following details when sending through your request to be added to the waitlist:
- First name
- Date of Birth
- Course you would like to do
We as an education team look forward to being back on the beach with you soon.
Thanks and kind regards
Chris Pienaar, Chief Training Officer – Long Reef SLSC
