This is the story of one of our new members of the Longy Management Committee (MC), Chris Diggins, who holds the very important role of Facility Manager, which basically means that he takes care of the club as well as its contents.

A few weeks ago, during a monthly MC meeting, Chris alerted us to the very concerning state of the IRB motor trolley, a vital piece of equipment for the safe transport of our many IRB motors. It was basically on its last legs (or wheels), about to fall apart.

To overcome this critical situation, he proposed the club spend some money on a new one. The MC took a vote and approved the purchase. That’s when Chris rushed out the door, and full of pride, brought back a brand-new hand-made IRB motor trolley he had made earlier.

Needless to say that this was a piece of art, complete with custom-made stainless steel frame, hardwood head board and heavy-duty wheels. The new trolley has since proven itself in the harshest surf life saving conditions, helping our IRB drivers and crew remain injury free and happy.

Thanks Chris for this outstanding contribution (and the great laughs that went with it)! We can’t wait to see what else you can create with that unique handy man flair of yours. Keep up the good work mate, it’s great to have you on board!

Cheers, your MC colleagues
